CCBE – Rocky Mountain Tops
The Colorado College Bluegrass Ensemble is an opportunity for students to study, develop and perform bluegrass music. The group is by audition only. The group performs yearly at the IBMA student stage in Raleigh NC, The Black Rose Acoustic Society in Colorado Springs, Steve’s Guitars in Carbondale Colorado, and The Durango Meltdown. This year’s group has named themselves The Rocky Mountain Tops.
Anabel Shenk, guitar/vocals is from San Francisco, California. She is a first-year at Colorado College and is an undecided major. She loves to sing and play guitar with other people and grew up playing the piano. She loves reading and being outside. She is inspired by the music of Patty Griffin, Emmylou Harris, and many other female singer-songwriters.
Lena Fleischer, vocals, mandolin/guitar, is a Computer Science major from California. She has always loved to sing, and is happiest when harmonizing with lovely people! She loves exploring new crafts and has recently taken up pottery and stained glass.
Helen Lenski, banjo/vocals, is a senior at Colorado College studying political science. She grew up in Boulder, Colorado. In addition to playing banjo, she also plays classical piano. She plays on the CC Rugby team and numerous intramural sports teams. Helen is inspired by the music of Dolly Parton, Sarah Jarosz, Earl Scruggs, and many other traditional country and bluegrass artists.
Lucy Capone, bass, is from Boston, MA but lives in Colorado Springs. She is studying Environmental Science and enjoys skiing and hiking. Her bluegrass influence is Billy Strings.
